I have some questions about making up solutions of Kinetin, GA and IBA. How can I make a solution of Kinetin? Kinetin is only sparingly soluble and stock solutions of >50ppm are not practicable. You should use warm water, or dissolve it first in a small quantity of ethanol before adding the necessary amount of water. The solutions are stable, especially at low temperatures. May I use ethanol as a solvent in IBA and GA3? Yes - same procedure as above - use the minimum amount (say 0.5cm3) of ethanol to get into solution before adding the required amount of water. IAA is broken down by light - store in the dark, preferably in a 'fridge. After solving GA3, IBA and Kinetin and diluting them in water may I put them altogether in the same bottle? Yes, but I'm not sure how stable they are when mixed together. I would suggest you store the stock solutions separately and make up your mixtures just before using them. If I had made a soluttion of 200ppm of Kinetin, 100ppm of GA3 and 100ppm IBA is it stable and would I need to keep it in a refrigerator? It would be wise to keep your solutions in the 'fridge.
